Amsterdam Central Station is at a 5 minutes walking distance from Dam square.Trains to different locations in Holland and Europe can be taken from there. A direct train links Amsterdam and Paris and leaves Amsterdam about 7 times each day. You can also board trains to different destinations in Germany, Switzerland or Scandinavia, as well as a train heading for London.
Tickets – for local trains and several international trains can be bought at the ticket counter(s) or at the different ticket machines. Tickets for international trains can also be purchased on-line or by phone. Reservations for international trains are not always necessary, however for some international trains, like the ICE or Thalys an extra supplementary payment is being charged.

NS Internationaal sales outletsYou can buy tickets without seat reservations to about 150 destinations in Belgium, Luxembourg and major destinations in the western part of Germany at any NS station with a Binnenland (Domestic) ticket office. Separate supplements for ICE International on the Amsterdam - Cologne route can also be paid for here. Tickets and reservations to some 1400 destinations in Europe are on sale at the NS Internationaal outlets at the ten largest stations.
Ticket machinesYou can buy tickets to Belgium and Germany quickly, easily and more cheaply from the touch-screen ticket machines on most NS stations in The Netherlands. The tickets on sale are to the most popular destinations in those countries, without seat reservations. You can pay quickly, easily and securely with a debit card, smart card or credit card. Ticket machines are particularly suitable for buying tickets at the last minute, so that you can board the train immediately afterwards.
